Vietnam will take center court this September as Ho Chi Minh City hosts the MB Vietnam Open—the country’s first-ever PPA Tour Asia event and its largest pickleball tournament to date. Running from September 4-7 at Global City Sports Park, the event marks a major milestone for pickleball in Asia and underscores Vietnam’s position as a regional powerhouse in the sport.

Trịnh Linh Giang’s Homecoming

Fresh off his championship win at the Panas Malaysia Open, Vietnam’s Trịnh Linh Giang will headline the tournament’s pro division. His victory, achieved in straight sets (12–10, 11–7) over India’s Vanshik Kapadia, earned him the honor of being the nation’s first PPA Tour Asia titleholder.

“I can’t wait to play on home soil with the best crowd we have here in Vietnam! I will give my best representing the Vietnamese flag and my team! Vamos!” Trịnh said at the event’s Hanoi launch.

He will be joined by Sophia Trần and Ken Tâm—UPA Asia Trailblazers standouts and top Vietnamese contenders also competing in the Open tournament.

MB Bank: Championing More Than Sport

MB was officially announced as presenting partner during a press conference at the Dolce by Wyndham Golden Lake. Its support reflects a broader commitment around health, connection, and community impact.

“MB’s support for pickleball transcends tournament sponsorship – it’s about fostering happiness through shared moments of joy and connection. We believe true well-being combines financial health with emotional fulfillment, which is why this partnership holds such significance to us. By championing active communities and meaningful experiences, it perfectly embodies MB Priority’s vision: Happiness in every moment,” said Nguyen Thi Viet Nga, Chief Marketing Officer of MB.

Expanding the Game: MB Vietnam Open 2025 Leads the Vietnam Open 2025 Charge

The Vietnam Open will wrap up the season’s high-energy Open tournaments across Asia:

  • Hong Kong Open – Aug 21–24
  • Sansan Fukuoka Open – Aug 26–31
  • MB Vietnam Open – Sep 4–7

As part of PPA Tour Asia’s three-tiered ranking system—Slam, Cup, and Open—points earned here will count toward the coveted year-end No. 1 ranking.

“The MB Vietnam Open represents a defining moment for pickleball in Vietnam,” said Kimberly Koh, Managing Director of UPA Asia. “By bringing world-class competition to Vietnamese soil, led by homegrown hero Trinh Giang and Asia’s rising stars, we’re not just hosting a tournament, but accelerating the sport’s evolution across the region. Together with MB Bank, we’re creating pathways for local talent while delivering unforgettable experiences that will inspire the next generation of players and fans”.
