KUALA LUMPUR — PMB United, the sports and recreation arm of Pelaburan MARA Berhad, brought pickleball to center court with the Pickleball Media x PMB United 2025 Friendship Tournament at Pickle Point—an event designed as much for community building as for competition.
Events like this reflect the growing footprint of pickleball in Asia, where community tournaments are shaping both local participation and regional identity.
Forty players took part: 20 representatives from national media agencies and 20 from the Pelaburan MARA Group. All matches were mixed doubles in a round-robin format, ensuring every participant saw ample court time and interaction across teams.
The tournament was officiated by Pelaburan MARA chief operating officer Mohd Adzhar Abd Hamed, representing Group chief executive Mahdzir Othman.
“This tournament is more than just a game. It is a celebration of friendship, teamwork, and shared values. Sports have a unique ability to break down barriers and create genuine friendships, and we look forward to seeing the relationships built here grow stronger, both on and off the court,” said Mahdzir
Pelaburan MARA’s Strategic Communications Division said it intends to make the friendly meet an annual fixture with media partners, while PMB United will continue to champion an active lifestyle among staff.
