Vietnam’s standard-bearer in pickleball, Quang Duong, tore through a local field over the weekend, seizing two gold medals as a free agent and reminding rivals why he’s the country’s player to beat. Duong paired with Amanda Hendry to win Mixed Doubles, then regrouped with Casey Diamond to clinch Men’s Doubles, completing a flawless day’s work against some of the nation’s most accomplished competitors.

Duong Wins Two Golds in Quang Ninh

The mixed final showcased Duong’s first-step speed and feather-soft touch at the kitchen (the non-volley zone), with Hendry’s court coverage and steady resets turning defense into offense. Hours later, the Men’s Doubles draw became a statement march: Duong and Diamond first ousted Trinh Linh Giang and Ly Hoang Nam in the semifinals, then overpowered Phuc Huynh and Tama Shimabukuro in the title match.

The bracket was no soft landing. Recent podium finishers on regional stages—Trinh Linh Giang and Ly Hoang Nam—couldn’t blunt Duong’s pace or patterns. Phuc Huynh, fresh off a national triumph, and Tama Shimabukuro met the same fate in the final, where Duong’s hand battles and drive-and-crash sequences repeatedly forced short replies and unforced errors.

Duong’s sweep in Quang Ninh offered a clear snapshot of his current level: fast hands at the line, depth control on third balls, and calm decision-making in transition. The results—mixed and men’s doubles golds against established contenders—reinforce his standing as one of Vietnam’s highest-rated player and set a measurable benchmark for the next slate of events.
