WPC Asia Grand Slam Brings Global Firepower to Malaysia

1,500 registrants, rooftop rallies, and rising stars mark a breakthrough moment for Asian pickleball.

The rooftop of One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya came alive from July 16–20 as the WPC Asia Pickleball Grand Slammade its spectacular debut. With more than 1,500 players from over 20 countries, the event marked a new milestone for pickleball in Malaysia and across Asia.

Backed by CelcomDigi and powered by Pickleball Global’s international ranking system, the five-day tournament dished out a whopping RM120,000 in prize money, featuring high-energy singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories across youth, adult, and senior brackets.

Champions Shine Under the Malaysian Sky

From day one, competition was fierce. The courts witnessed thrilling rallies, clutch comebacks, and incredible displays of skill.

  • Ryan Lam took home double gold in both Men’s Doubles 19+ Open and Mixed Doubles 19+ Open.
  • His partner Isha Lakhani matched that feat — adding wins in Mixed Doubles 35+ Open (with Mohd Faizal Othman) and Women’s Doubles 19+ Open (with Mihae Kwon).
  • Carlos Rubio was another standout, clinching gold in Men’s Singles 35+ Open and Men’s Doubles 35+ Openwith Muhammad Ashaari Zainal Abidin.
  • Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma dominated the Men’s Singles 19+ Open, while Mihika Yadav crushed the Women’s Singles 19+ Open bracket.

Veteran duos like William Chang and Loke Fu Foo showcased experience and finesse, sealing gold in Men’s Doubles 60+ Elite. From first-timers to legends, every court had a story — and every point pushed the game further in Asia.

A Breakthrough at WPC Asia Grand Slam 2025 in Malaysia
