The pickleball community gathered in the stunning island setting of Jeju, South Korea, for one of the region’s most exciting events of the year - the WPC Korea Open 2025. With over 230 elite players from across Asia competing, the tournament delivered thrilling matches, unforgettable moments, and a powerful showcase of pickleball’s unstoppable growth.

Hosted at the Seogwipo Tennis Center from June 5 through finals weekend, this prestigious Tier 3 tournament - organized by Pickleball Global - drew players from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Singapore, and India. The competition was fierce, the camaraderie electric, and the victories well-earned.

Singles Champions

  • Rachel Lam - Women’s Singles 19+ Open

  • Mayu Omori & Mahiro Fukuhara - Women’s Doubles 19+ Open

India’s Medal Haul: Rising Stars on the Global Stage

The team selected by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) made an indelible mark at the event, taking home an impressive four medals - two gold and two silver.

One of the event’s brightest stars was Kuldip Mahajan, who dazzled spectators by capturing two gold medals:

  • In Men’s Doubles 19+, paired with Ryan Lam of Hong Kong
  • In Mixed Doubles 19+, teamed with Vrushali Thakare

India’s momentum continued with Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma, who earned a silver in Men’s Singles 19+, and Vrushali Thakare, who added a silver in Women’s Doubles 19+ with partner Angie Bong of Indonesia.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Arvind Prabhoo, president of AIPA, shared:

“It is truly heartening to witness our athletes rise to the occasion and deliver such world-class performances on an international stage. These victories are not just medals—they are milestones in India’s growing stature in the global pickleball community. We are proud of our champions who continue to put Indian pickleball on the world map with grit, grace, and excellence.”
