Connor Garnett turned Fukuoka into a showcase, bagging the Triple Crown—singles, men’s doubles, and mixed—at the Sansan Fukuoka Open 2025 this August 26–31, at Fukuoka, Japan. The world No. 3 dropped just one game across three finals, while China’s Yufei Long doubled up with titles in women’s singles and women’s doubles.
How Garnett Built the Sweep
The men’s singles final almost veered off script. Garnett bolted to a 6–0 opener before Vietnam’s Phuc Huynh flipped the momentum to steal game one, 11–8. From there, Garnett throttled back in and closed with ruthless clarity, 11–3, 11–1, to bank title No. 1.
He reunited with Black Diamonds teammate Allyce Jones in mixed doubles and kept the throttle down, dismissing Len Yang and Wei Ting Chieh in straight games, 11–7, 11–5. The finishing touch came in men’s doubles alongside Tyler Loong—an 11–3, 12–10 win over local favorites Kenta Miyoshi and Robert Stirling that hushed the home crowd.

China’s Yufei Long turned defense into offense all week and cashed it in on finals day. She overpowered Hsieh Yu-chieh in women’s singles, 11–1, 11–7, then came back for more in women’s doubles. Reuniting with fellow UPA Asia Trailblazer Ting Chieh Wei, Long rallied past Australians Danni-Elle Townsend and Nicola Schoeman after dropping the first game, 6–11, 11–4, 11–6.
